Even is included in the ISE

Even is the first builder and developer in Brazil to be included in the
BM&F Bovespa’s Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE)

The Company was also the first publicly-held company in the sector to base its
sustainability report on GRI guidelines

São Paulo, November 25, 2009 – Even, São Paulo’s largest builder and developer and one of the largest in Brazil, has been included in the select group of companies making up the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) of the BM&F Bovespa – the São Paulo Securities, Commodities and Futures Exchange. The ISE is composed of shares issued by companies committed to sustainability and social responsibility.

Being included in the ISE is one more recognition of the Company’s commitment to sustainable initiatives and is the result of Even’s strategy over the years. In 2009, Even published its Sustainability Report, the first such report by a publicly-held construction company to be drawn up in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines.

The creation of the ISE is the result of a global tendency, known as socially responsible investing (SRI), whereby investors are seeking out such firms in the belief that sustainable companies create long-term value for their shareholders since they are better prepared to confront social, economic and environmental risks. In the United States, SRI accounts for around US$ 2.7 trillion, or almost 11% of total investments, according to the Social Investment Forum.

The 2009/2010 ISE portfolio, which will become effective as of December 1, comprises 34 companies from 15 economic sectors, with a joint market cap of R$ 730 billion, equivalent to 32.21% of the total market cap of all those firms listed on the stock market on November 24. They were selected from a list of the 150 most liquid companies on the BMF&Bovespa.
